WAYNESBORO - A funeral service for Gary Wayne Allison, 13, of 289 Elkin Cr., will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday in the Memorial Chapel of McDow-Tyree Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Scott Hutton, with
interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Young Allison was killed in a two-car collision about 10 miles north of Culpeper early Saturday morning.
Born Sept. 24, 1957, he was the son of Mrs. Stella Allison and the late Donald T. Allison.
Besides his mother, he is survived by one sister, Miss Linda Kay Allison of Waynesboro; four half-brothers,
Robert Wilt, Nelson Eugene Wilt, Edward Lee Wilt and Rodney Wilt, all of Waynesboro; his maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Minnie B. Hartman of Route 3; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Allison of Warrenton;
and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Hite, Freddie Probst, Bruce Fitzgerald, Jeffrey Fitzgerald, Virgil Johnson
and Douglas Merrikan.

Local girl, 19, killed in crash
CULPEPER - A 19-year-old Culpeper girl was killed on impact in an early morning crash that was fatal to
one other person and injured three more.
Beverly Ann Allen of 110 Page Street, a former player for the local high school girls' softball team,
was dead at the scene on Route 29 North early Saturday morning. She would have been 20 this month.
Also killed was a 13-year-old boy, a passenger in the other car involved in the two-car crash on Route 29
less than a mile north of Elkwood. The boy, Gary Wayne Allison of Waynesboro, is believed to have been a
hitchhiker, according to state police. He was dead on arrival at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Miss Allen was driving the car in which she died, according to evidence. The owner of the vehicle,
22-year-old Wilbur Eugene Ford of Route 1, Culpeper, was a passenger. He suffered a fractured leg and a
slight concussion.
The other driver involved was William Graham Ringgold of Lynchburg. He was in intensive care yesterday
at the local hospital.
Also hospitalized is another apparent hitchhiker, 16-year-old Curtis Lee Heatwole of Waynesboro. He
received face lacerations and internal injuries.
Miss Allen was headed south, according to state police investigation, and the Ringgold car was northbound.
The crash occurred just beyond a dangereus curve in the northbound lane, police said.
Rainy weather, a wet road and the curve are believed to have contributed to the accident. Investigation is
continuing.
A man who said he was a witness told rescue squadsmen at the scene that the impact of the vehicles was so
great it lifted both cars off the ground. State police are seeking the unknown witness in their in investigation.
